Kelley Dandaneau
A veteran – whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve – is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America”, for an amount “up to and including my life”. That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that. ~ Author unknown.
| POST 412 She was so beautiful outside and in She held Bartenders, Veterans Family and Friends |
So many memories we’ll never forget
From funerals, Birthday’s
Even holidays we met
We cheered for our teams
Danced all night
Told each other our dreams
And sang with all our might
In good times and bad
Whenever in doubt
It was pleasure not obligation
To help each other out
It was exciting for us
Because we never could tell
When Commander Jim
Was going to ring the bellSmiles, laughter, jokes and games
Ended quickly as her family
Watched her go down in flames She then saw how strong
Their emotional ties
Made the women scream out
And made the grown men cry
She wants us to know that in her eyes
It was her time to go
A blessing in disguise
She said “I know you are sad
And your eyes will dampen
But don’t cry that I’m over
Smile because I happened”
Now be brave my family
And rebuild me a brother
I’ll be in your hearts
Always and forever
Now lets all raise our glass
And say to ourselves
“Here’s to our Legion
Our home, Post 412”
